St Thomas More Annual Dinner Gala

St. Thomas More (STM) hosted their annual dinner gala with their theme being Wizard of Oz.  All funds raised are being used as financial resources to provide student scholarships, academic programs and faculty assistance.  With over 345 people in attendance, STM raised over $90,000 and 2010 went down in history as one of their highest grossing years.  Exciting Events continues to partner with STM to go above and beyond to awe their guests with one of a kind décor and special effects.

Lighting
As guests walked into the entry of the gym at STM, they were dazzled by a transformation resembling the one and only Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz.  We used up lighting to warm the walls with elegant hues of green throughout the silent auction room, the beverage area and the ballroom.  Colored columns were used to accentuate the large space of the ballroom and were placed throughout the area to create a dramatic feel.  As guests entered the ballroom, which was gently textured with subtle shapes and colors to soften the area, they didn’t even realize they were in STM’s gymnasium.  Exciting Events is proud to be able to create and transform any area to what our clients hope for.

Video
What Exciting Events created for STM was nothing short of making ‘Wizard of Oz’ come to life.  From a man in front of a green painted wall to a wizard complimented with smoke and fire, this was an incredible transformation created by our in-house video team.  All aspects of the video were created from scratch including the background, the voice of Oz and the video effects.   On the night of the event, we amazed the audience by having Dorothy and Toto interact with a live OZ on screen.  Not only was Exciting Events behind all of the pre-production of the video prior to the event, but also there that night to direct the live interaction and produce a dynamic video.

Special Effects
Making the video come to life for this event was an exciting part for our team.  As the Wizard’s image began to smoke and flames heightened around his face on video, we used our open flame effect in front of the audience reaching heights of 20 feet and a fog machine was used to simulate smoke.  As Dorothy clicked her heels three times for admittance into STM for reaching their fundraising goal, the stage exploded with confetti and mylar streamers which reached the far ends of the ballroom using our dual horn
CO2 confetti cannons.  Exciting Events along with the many generous attendants made this evening an instant celebration with tremendous success.

Testimonial
We are so proud of what you created for our school.  What was once our high school gym was completely transformed into the Emerald City, an accomplishment which we would have not achieved without you.  Our guests are still talking about the décor and effects of our event and are so excited to see what we are going to do next year.  Thank you so very much for your generosity towards Saint Thomas More High School and our wonderful students.  We are very grateful for your support!’
